Rock Guitar theme for Wordpress

Hey there, first theme up on this site is the “Rock Guitar” theme.  It features Les Paul-style guitars in the header and in the category tabs.  It is a 2-column, fixed-width theme with a right-hand sidebar, it supports widgets and is very easy to customise.  This was originally created by and for the Learn Electric Guitar blog, but I am now releasing it for free, under the GPL v3 – have a look at my welcome post if you’re unsure what that means.

Welcome to Wordpress Guitar Themes

Hi, and welcome to Wordpress Guitar Themes, a site where I share Guitar Themes for the Wordpress blogging platform as free software.

What is Wordpress?

Wordpress is a “blog publishing application” that’s become extremely popular on the interwebz because it’s free, simple to install and use, very easy to customise and looks extremely pretty.  If you’ve never heard of it before, just google “wordpress” and you will be able to find out all about it.

What do you mean by “free software”?

The themes hosted on this site are released under version 3 of the GNU Public Licence (GPL for short)

Basically, this licence gives users the freedom to use any theme hosted on this site for any purpose, to modify the themes, to distribute the themes and to distribute any changes they make.  The only caveat is that any version of the theme that you distribute has to stay under the GPL.  For more information on the GPL v3, including the full text of the licence, click here.

If you do end up modifying one of the themes on this page, I would be grateful if  you could tell me about it, and maybe you can send me a copy of it too.  Just to be clear, that’s not a condition of using this site, I just think it would be cool to see what people come up with :)

The first theme on this site was originally developed by and for my blog about learning electric guitar, it was after I installed it there that I thought other people might enjoy using it, and decided to make it publically available.  I hope you enjoy it, and thanks for visiting!
